New Faces at Casita Miro

We are delighted to announce the arrival of Chef Cristian Hossack and Maitre d' Clare Dunleavy at Casita Miro. Cristian and Clare take over from Chef Logan Coath and Manager Will Thorpe who moved to a restaurant in Auckland in  July.

Cristian is a trained chef and has created delicious cuisine in  Wellington, Melbourne and London. In London  he worked for 8 years at  Peter Gordon’s famed  restaurant ‘The Providores’  first as  Chef de Partie and then as  Head Chef.  This restaurant is one of only 8 in London with a single Michelin star; only one has two stars and none have three stars. Michelin stars are  arguably the highest accolade for  any restaurant in the world.  After leaving The Providores, Cristian and his partner Lena travelled through Europe. He has been back in New Zealand for 24 months we are delighted to welcome Cristian to Casita Miro to direct operations in the kitchen.

Maitre D' Clare hails from Waiheke Island but has previously lived overseas in the UK and The Netherlands. Clare's family, the Dunleavys have been on Waiheke for many years and are founders and owners of Te Motu Vineyard which is renowned for its gorgeous examples of Waiheke Bordeaux style blends. Clare has many years experience in the wine and restaurant industries and was Maitre D' at the Oyster Inn prior to joining Casita Miro. We are delighted to welcome Clare on board and look forward to bringing her warm service and vast wine knowledge to the dining room.
And finally, good luck to General Manager Will Thorpe and Head Chef Logan Coath who moved to their new venture on 20 July.  Please visit their Spanish eatery in Auckland called 'The Black Hoof'.
which specialises in the cured meats of Spain including hams from the amazing 'Pata Negra' or Black Hoof pigs. There is also a great selection of tapas, Sherry and wine from Casita Miro and beyond, NZ craft beers on tap as well as some funky cocktails and sangrias. Check out The Black Hoof's website HERE and follow the Black Hoof on Facebook HERE to keep up with what's going down! The Black Hoof opened in  August 2014 and is located at 12 Wyndham St (Level 1),  Auckland Central. We have eaten there already and recommend it with ++++. It is unlike anything Auckland is currently offering: funky, friendly, relaxed and delicious. The cheese selection is eclectic, the ham is ecstatic, and the potatoes bravas are totally over-the-top. You will not want to leave.
